As we near the end of 2019, I’ve been reflecting on what I’ve accomplished this year. The after school club and holiday workshops have continued to flourish and the children have made some wonderful things. As well as honing their sewing skills, the children have had a chance to design and plan their work, learn […]
2018 proved to be a busy year for SewFurzedown with a variety of commissions for soft furnishings completed and a record number of people participating in the workshops. The after school club proved particularly popular and the children made some amazing things. I ran some adult workshops for beginners which taught the basics of using […]
Had a productive morning at the adult sewing workshop on inserting a zip. There are a number of different ways to do this and everyone has their own preferences. For this workshop I taught the adults how to use the zipper foot to sew the zip to the fabric for a lined purse. I also […]
Had a great turnout for the Halloween workshop this half term. We made Day of the Dead skulls using felt and embroidery thread. The children worked incredibly hard to get them finished in 2 hours with only a quick break for a pumpkin cupcake and drink.
We have just come to the end of the first block of after school clubs before half term. The children made these amazing tote bags inspired by the artist, Frida Kahlo. They made them in stages and learnt so many skills along the way that they can apply to future projects. They sewed the different […]

You will learn how to insert a zip (not as scary as you might think) and create a small purse/makeup bag out of beautiful fabrics to take home. Once you’ve mastered the art of inserting a zip, you won’t look back! […]
The new club starts Tuesday 11th September 4-5pm at The Living Room. It runs for 6 weeks and then a new block of classes start after half term. Looking forward to lots of sewing and creativity!
I held three workshops over the summer when we made some super things. We had some new children including the highest number of boys I’ve ever had so I was delighted that they were keen to join in. We made cool cases for sunglasses with ice creams and lollies on them, some amazing superhero badges […]

Mad dash to finish these amazing monsters in the last club of the term. Each child designed their own unique monster and made a template to work from. They added features using applique techniques and used blanket stitch to sew the front and back together. I think they’ve all done a fantastic job!
